Welcome. My name is Tracy.
I understand reaching out for help is challenging, I aim to make your experience as easy as I can. People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. Everyone experiences the world differently, what matters to one person may not matter so much or at all to another. No two counselling sessions (or counsellors) are the same, they are as unique and focused as the people in it. So if it matters to you, it matters, lets explore.
About me and my practice
I have always known I wanted to work in the counselling field from a young age but wanted to get more life experience before I did. Fast forward to 2018 where my training began...
I first started with an 'Introduction to Counselling', this led me on a rewarding journey. I knew this was my calling.
I went on to study a 'Certificate in Counselling', this opened my eyes to the dedication that was needed in this role and made me look inward at myself.
After my Certificate I went straight on to study the 'Advanced Professional Diploma in Counselling Theory and Therapeutic Practice.' this course meant I got to experience my own counselling journey, it also enabled me to volunteer in local low cost counselling services.
After qualifying I got further training and did a 'Certificate in Couple and Relationship Counselling' so I could comfortably work with Couples.
I continue to update my skills and participate in regular and varied training.
In 2023 I did my Accreditation and became an Accredited member of the 'British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy' (BACP).
Experience
I have experience in many areas including, but not limited to; anxiety, depression, sexual abuse and low self-esteem
Over my working life I have volunteered my time at The Quiet Mind Centre in Exmouth and Parental Minds in Honiton.
I currently work with 'Surviving Abuse' a charity in North Devon, providing counselling to victims of sexual abuse and their family members and have done so since 2021.
I am also a counsellor for some Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) and Insurance companies. (Please see EAP & Insurance tab)
The rest of my time is spent in Private Practice, I thrive on the variety of clients that come my way.

Our first session will be a getting to know you session where we will go through the working agreement and do an assessment form together to get an idea of what has bought you to counselling, I will take some personal information including GP and other data, please be assured this is all held in accordance with ICO policies.
At the end of the first session we will have an idea if we are a good fit and if so the next session will be booked from there.
